At 2pm 18th August 2015, the giant panda Feng Yi of CCRCGP gave birth to a baby in National Zoo of Malaysia.
The giant panda Feng Yi, female, was born on 23rd August 2006. On 21st May 2014, Feng Yi and the male giant panda Fu Wa went to National Zoo of Malaysia for 10 years’ cooperation and exchange of scientific research. At the end of April of this year, Feng Yi had estrus behavior obviously. On 7th May 2015, her estrus behavior became the strongest, and had natural matching with Fu Wa.
On 18th August 2015, Feng Yi had some prenatal behaviors, such as irritability, bathing and cunnilingus. At the beginning of 1pm, she began to lying. At 13: 45, her amniotic rupture. At 14:00, she birthed a baby. At 18:45, the breeder of sub-center of CCRCGP and veterinary team of National Zoo of Malaysia checked the baby. It is a female with loud voice, large size and 175g. Now, Feng Yi can take care baby. Both of them are health. The CCRCGP and veterinary team of National Zoo of Malaysia will take care Feng Yi and baby closely, in order to protect their health.
This is the first time of Feng Yi gave a birth to baby in Malaysia. It is a successful case of international scientific cooperation of the CCRCGP. Currently, the CCRCGP have scientific cooperation of giant panda with 11 zoos in 9 countries. And there are 25 giant pandas live oversea.
