According to Official Net of State Forestry Administration of the People’s Republic of China on 28th, February, a news conference was hosted to release the Fourth Public Giant Panda Results by State Forestry Administration of PRC.It shows that the quantity of giant pandas in our country is 1864 as well as captive one is 375, while wildlife pandas’ habitat areas are twenty-five million and eighty thousand acres, potential habitat areas are nine hundred and ten thousand acres which spread in three provinces’ seventeen cities(states)、49 counties(city、districts)、196 countries in Sichuan, Shanxi, Gansu until at the end of 2013. The protection zones with pandas there and their habitats increased to 67.
Compared to first three times survey results, the fourth result shows these: first, the quantity of wildlife species is keeping increase steadily. The quantity of public wildlife pandas increased by 268 than the third time research that is 1864 in total. It is 16.8% growth. There is 0.072 panda in every square kilometer.
In between, 1387 pandas in Sichuan province which makes up 74.4% of the whole country. Second, apparent expansion of the habitat. Wildlife pandas live in three provinces’ seventeen cities(states)、49 counties(city、districts)、196 countries in Sichuan, Shanxi, Gansu,totally twenty-five million and eighty thousand acres, potential habitat areas are nine hundred and ten thousand acres. 4 places more in county(city, district) compared to the third time research while the habitat areas enlarged by 11.8% as well as potential habitat areas enlarged by 6.3%. Third, rapid development of captive species. Compared to the third time research, 27 new-built protection zones are there with increased areas one million and one hundred eighty thousand acres. Zones which pandas live along with their habitats are 67 places with total areas three million and three hundred sixty thousand acres. 66.8% wildlife pandas and 53.8% pandas habitats already be brought into nationwide network of nature reserves. That means the protective rate of this species and their habitats will keep on a increase.
