By the joint efforts from Hong Kong and Sichuan after the disaster coordination mechanism, the Hongkong Special Administrative Region help Wolong post-disaster reconstruction of the iconic building Dujiangyan panda rescue and disease prevention and control center construction has been basically completed. This 1st March, 2013 in Dujiangyan Qingcheng Shan town Shi Qiao village Center of disease control project site hosted the "Hongkong Special Administrative Region to support the Sichuan earthquake post-disaster reconstruction of Dujiangyan panda rescue and disease prevention and control center opening ceremony". Hongkong Chief Secretary Ms. Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, and group of people the National Forestry Administration, the people's Government of Sichuan Province, Sichuan province forestry hall, Dujiangyan Municipal People's government, Wolong Nature Reserve Administration and related units of the leadership, guests and representatives of the people to be the witness of successfully opening ceremony.
The ceremony was host by Jiang Chu who is the deputy director of Sichuan province forestry hall. During the opening ceremony, Wolong Nature Protection Area Management Bureau Director Zhang Hemin make a speech, and the speech brief reviews the history of the past China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center, give great thanks for of the Hongkong Special Administrative Region and the public to support the construction of Wolong, and said it will put the CDC(Center of disease control) made model for domestic and foreign giant panda conservation, so to redound Hong Kong and the supporters and all sectors of society.
Sichuan Provincial Forestry Department Director Mr. Yao Si Dan delivered a speech to thank the Hong Kong SAR government and the general public largesse, praised the progress and quality of Wolong post-disaster reconstruction work.
Hong Kong SAR Government Secretary Ms Carrie Lam said, Hongkong people like about four pandas which given by central government: AnAn, Jia Jia, Le le, Ying Ying, and hope to do something useful to be able to help four pandas hometown Wolong. Hongkong has been always supporting the protection of the giant panda in Wolong, expressed satisfaction with the progress and quality of the project construction. She also mentioned the Hongkong SAR government to help Sichuan post-disaster reconstruction work has been basically completed, the sustainable development in the future will continue to support the Sichuan after earthquake, and the Hongkong SAR government will sign relevant protocols with Sichuan Province in Chengdu for continued cooperation.
Subsequently, the Hongkong SAR Government Secretary Ms Carrie Lam, Secretary for constitutional and mainland affairs department Mr. Tan Zhiyuan and mainland affairs development permanent secretary Mr. Wei Zhicheng and Sichuan province government deputy secretary-general Mr. Xue Kang, Director-General of the National forestry bureau protection Division Mr. Zhang Xiwu and Sichuan provincial forestry department director Mr. Yao Sidan host the opening ceremony.
After the ceremony, Ms. Carrie Lam, Mr. Zhang Xiwu, Mr. Xue kang and Mr. Yao Sidan, they visited CDC and Giant pandas. Accompany by Wolong natural protection area Secretary Huang Jianhua and Zhang Hemin, the Director of the district administration of Wolong National Nature Reserve Zone.
After the visit, Ms Carrie Lam again praised on the giant panda rescue and disease prevention and control center construction work. She said Hong Kong has been supportive of the giant panda conservation work in Wolong, and hope to conduct more cooperation in scientific research, animal conservation and tourism and etc.
Dujiangyan giant panda rescue and CDC begin construct in 2011 September, 2012 June have put into use condition, at present, there are 10 giant pandas in there. The opening ceremony is showcase achievement of reconstruction of Sichuan after the disaster, but also shares the giant panda research to protect the construction of ecological civilization construction of harmony between man and nature of joy.
